As South Africa braces for the winter chill, Pick n Pay Hypermarket is turning up the heat on community support with an inspiring new initiative. In partnership with Feed the Nation, they are launching the “Soup for SA” campaign, aiming to collect over one million packets of soup to aid vulnerable communities during this critical time. As the thermometer drops, so does the flow of donations, making this initiative ever more essential for those in need across South Africa.
Under the “Soup for SA” initiative, customers are encouraged to donate soup packets priced at a mere R5. This campaign is not just about quenching hunger but also about fostering community spirit. Seventy-five percent of the donated soup will reach 2,675 primary schools registered with the Pick n Pay School Club. These schools facilitate vital feeding schemes that support learners, many of whom depend on these meals as their primary source of nutrition.
🎉 Customers can participate easily: simply purchase any number of soup packets, swipe their Smart Shopper card, and donate them at the designated trailer just outside the store. And, as a bonus, 21 lucky participants will have the chance to win a trailer—one winner from each hypermarket—making giving back even more engaging!
“Winter brings increased demands for warm meals, and we are here to support our communities during this time,” said Deirdre Mullins, National CSI Manager at Pick n Pay. “Every little contribution counts, and together, we can provide nutritious meals to those who need it most.”
This campaign not only addresses immediate hunger but also builds a network of support across communities. As we rally together, we can transform a simple packet of soup into a warm meal for families who need it during the colder months.
So, whether you’re shopping for your family or just passing by your local Pick n Pay, consider contributing to a warmer winter for someone in need. Your small act of kindness can lead to big changes.
