Exciting News: A New Head Veterinarian Joins Northwest Trek Wildlife Park!

Dr. Kadie Anderson Takes the Helm as Head Veterinarian at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

In an exciting turn of events for wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists alike, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville, Washington, has appointed Dr. Kadie Anderson as its new head veterinarian. This significant transition follows the retirement of the esteemed Dr. Allison Case, who dedicated 19 years to the park and its mission.

Dr. Anderson brings a wealth of experience and passion for wildlife care to her new role. Previously, she served as the associate veterinarian at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium since 2016. Her extensive background in wildlife and zoo medicine positions her as an ideal successor to continue the high standard of care for the park’s over 100 native Pacific Northwest animals.

Rick Dietz, deputy director of Northwest Trek, expressed confidence in Dr. Anderson’s abilities, stating, “Her expertise in conservation and zoological medicine makes her the perfect choice to continue the exceptional care for our animals and uphold Northwest Trek’s mission to provide a safe, natural environment for both wildlife and visitors.”

Dr. Anderson is not just any veterinarian; she is board-certified by the American College of Zoological Medicine, a prestigious accolade earned by fewer than 300 veterinarians worldwide. Her career has involved exciting global conservation projects, including work with Galapagos tortoises, African lions, and drill monkeys in Cameroon. Her dedication even extends to local wildlife, having engaged in projects focused on elk in the Olympic Mountains.

In her own words, Dr. Anderson expressed her enthusiasm for her new position: “I’m honored to join the team at Northwest Trek and continue the outstanding work that Dr. Case and the veterinary team have done. I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated veterinary staff and keepers to ensure the health and well-being of the wildlife here and to further our conservation goals.”

Her vision for the future includes fostering strong relationships between the park’s wildlife and the local community, furthering education around conservation practices, and maintaining the park as a sanctuary for native species.

With Dr. Anderson at the helm, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is poised for an innovative and impactful future. As she steps into this leadership role, both animals and visitors can look forward to an enhanced experience that highlights the importance of wildlife conservation.
