Brave Warriors make history by reaching AFCON Round of 16

Namibia’s Brave Warriors made history last night as they reached the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast for the first time.

The Brave Warriors faced Mali at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro in a hard-fought match.

In order to secure their place in the knockout stage, coach Collin Benjamin made five changes, resulting in one of the team’s best performances, despite not scoring during the match.

The match against Mali ended in a 0-0 draw, which proved to be enough for the Brave Warriors to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time. In the group’s other match, South Africa and Tunisia also played to a 0-0 draw.

Next, the Brave Warriors will face Angola in the Round of 16 on Saturday at 7 in the evening.

In the  Eleven matches played against neighboring Angola since 1994, Namibia’s Brave Warriors have never recorded a victory. However, this may change this weekend.
