The Kaduna-Kano railway project is nearing completion, but compensation issues remain unresolved for affected residents.

The federal government has committed to addressing compensation concerns for residents impacted by the ongoing railway project in Zaria, Kaduna. The transport ministry’s permanent secretary, Funso Adebiyi, announced that the project is approximately 90 per cent complete, covering a 203-kilometre corridor.

Government Pledges to Resolve Compensation Issues

During a visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamalli, Adebiyi assured that he would personally intervene in compensation matters. He acknowledged that these challenges are contributing to delays in extending the railway line from Jaji Station to the Kaduna-Abuja corridor.

Adebiyi emphasized the need to review the existing statutory compensation framework to address grievances effectively. He plans to meet with affected residents next week to discuss their concerns and assess relevant records.
