Oyo State’s governorship candidate vows to empower local governments.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo State, has pledged to grant local government areas and local council development areas autonomy starting May 29, 2027, if elected. This commitment was made during the inauguration of the Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, where businessman Tompolo donated 32 campaign vehicles to bolster the party’s electoral efforts.

Alli’s Commitment to Local Government Autonomy

During his speech, Alli emphasized that all local councils would gain autonomy on the day he is sworn in. This promise aims to enhance governance at the grassroots level, allowing local authorities more control over their affairs. The APC candidate expressed gratitude to Tompolo for his generous donation, which is intended to strengthen the party’s campaign.

Alli’s pledge reflects a broader strategy to reclaim power in Oyo State, where the APC has been out of government for several years. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victories across various levels in the upcoming elections.

Support from Business Leaders

The donation of 32 campaign vehicles by Tompolo is a significant boost for the APC’s mobilization efforts. Chief Kestin Pondi, speaking on behalf of Tompolo, reiterated the importance of supporting the party’s candidates in the upcoming elections. This support is crucial as the APC aims to surpass its previous electoral performance in Oyo State.

Pondi also highlighted the movement’s commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, linking the President’s economic reforms to national development and a brighter future for younger generations.

Next Steps for the APC in Oyo State

  • Mobilization of voters for the 2027 elections.
  • Utilization of donated vehicles for campaign activities.
  • Focus on securing re-election for President Bola Tinubu.
  • Efforts to win seats in the National Assembly and Oyo State House of Assembly.

Oyo State’s political landscape is set for a significant shift with promises of local government autonomy.
