Sales dropped by 4.1% from July, with 33,351 used vehicles sold. The average selling price also fell by 3.4% month-on-month to R418,649, although it showed minimal change compared to August 2025.

In August, South Africa saw a decrease in used vehicle sales, with 33,351 units changing hands. This figure is down from 34,759 in July. The decline reflects a broader trend in the market, as consumers adjust to changing economic conditions.

Despite the overall drop, some brands like Suzuki reported annual growth, with 2,426 sales, marking an 8% increase from August 2025. This indicates that while the market is contracting, certain brands are still finding success.

Interestingly, the Toyota Corolla Cross recorded the strongest annual growth at 10.6%, selling 593 units. The average selling price for this model was R374,746, showing a slight decrease from the previous year.
