The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is making strides in Lagos by empowering residents with clean energy solutions.
Recently, NASENI launched its Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) in Lagos, benefiting 1,000 residents. The initiative included the distribution of 400 NASENI Power Stoves, 100 NASENI Home Solar Solutions, and practical skills training in areas like Plaster of Paris installation and Electrical Maintenance.
NASENI’s Clean Energy Initiative in Lagos
The event took place on August 28, 2026, at the LTV Blue Roof in Ikeja. NASENI aims to improve lives and economic opportunities through technology. The initiative is part of a broader effort to extend practical science and engineering solutions beyond traditional settings.
Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, emphasized the importance of innovation in solving real problems. The Power Stoves are intended to offer cleaner cooking alternatives, while the Home Solar Solutions provide reliable energy for households and small businesses.
NSEP’s Focus on Skills Development
The Lagos edition of NSEP was designed to go beyond product distribution. It incorporated market-relevant skills training, allowing beneficiaries to convert their new skills into income-generating opportunities. Halilu stated that the goal is for participants to transition from learning to earning.
He highlighted that the success of the program will be measured by the tangible benefits experienced by households and the economic activities generated by those trained. This approach aims to create sustainable livelihoods and empower local communities.
Future Steps for NASENI’s Program
- Expand the program to reach more communities in Lagos State.
- Continue assessing the impact on beneficiaries’ energy challenges and economic participation.
- Encourage beneficiaries to utilize the skills and products provided for sustainable income.
NASENI is transforming lives in Lagos through clean energy and skills training.
