Regina Yayra Adenyo has been elected Vice President of the Students’ Representative Council at the University of Cape Coast.

Adenyo and President-elect Emmanuel Nana Adjei Acheampong won the 2026 SRC elections with 7,001 votes, representing 53.2% of the total valid votes cast. Their victory came after a competitive election on June 17, 2026, where they campaigned on themes of inclusiveness and student welfare.

Regina Yayra Adenyo’s Vision for UCC Students

Adenyo, a member of Valco Hall, focused her campaign on unity and transformational leadership. Her platform resonated with students, leading to significant support across the university. The Nyame Tease ticket achieved victories in eight out of ten halls of residence, showcasing their broad appeal.

In addition to winning at the main campus, the team also secured victories at UCC’s satellite campuses in Nyakrom and Dominase. This widespread support reflects the confidence students have in the new leadership.

Key Proposals from the New SRC Leadership

Following her election, Adenyo outlined several initiatives aimed at enhancing student life. Key proposals include restoring the 10GB data, 500 call minutes, and 200 SMS package for students. Additionally, they plan to expand Wi-Fi coverage, increase scholarship opportunities, and construct a student mini-mart.

Other proposals focus on advocating for improved roads and lecture facilities, alongside the continuation of the SRC Hall Annex accommodation project. These initiatives aim to address pressing student needs and improve campus life.
