The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has taken a significant step to enhance classroom conditions by distributing 997 school desks to public schools.
This initiative aims to improve teaching and learning environments across eight selected schools in Accra. The desks, which include mono, dual, and hexagonal types, were procured through the District Assemblies Common Fund.
Accra Assembly Distributes Desks to Schools
The desks were allocated to schools in the Assembly’s three sub-metros: Okaikoi South, Ashiedu Keteke, and Ablekuma South. Beneficiary schools include Bubiashie, Kaneshie, Ussher, Ga Mashie, Ayalolo, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, and Ojoo public schools.
Under the distribution plan, Bubiashie and Kaneshie schools will each receive 166 desks. In Ashiedu Keteke, Ussher will receive 115 desks, Ga Mashie 125 desks, and Ayalolo 92 desks. Meanwhile, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi, and Ojoo schools in Ablekuma South will receive 115, 105, and 112 desks, respectively.

During the presentation, the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, emphasized that this initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to enhancing furniture supply in public schools. He praised the President as a leader who delivers on promises, reinforcing the government’s Reset Agenda aimed at improving educational resources.
