Edelweiss Launches Non-Stop Flights from Windhoek to Zurich

Edelweiss has launched a new non-stop flight from Windhoek to Zurich, enhancing travel options between Namibia and Europe.

The inaugural flight WK83 took off from Hosea Kutako International Airport on June 1, carrying 253 passengers. This new route will operate twice weekly, with plans to expand to three flights per week starting in mid-July 2026.

The Swiss holiday airline Edelweiss has introduced its first non-stop flight from Windhoek to Zurich. The flight departed at 21h46, marking a significant milestone for travel between Namibia and Europe. Zurich, known for its modern airport and excellent connections, is now more accessible for Namibian travelers.

The Airbus A350, which operates this route, is renowned for its quiet and comfortable travel experience. It also boasts high efficiency and lower fuel consumption compared to older aircraft models. The new aircraft features larger windows and improved cabin lighting, enhancing passenger comfort on long-haul flights.

The introduction of the Edelweiss route is part of the Lufthansa Group’s strategy to strengthen connections between Namibia and Europe. In addition to the new flights to Zurich, Discover Airlines already provides daily non-stop flights to Frankfurt and three weekly flights to Munich. This expansion brings the total to 13 weekly non-stop flights from Windhoek to key European hubs.
