Africazine:
PEDRO is set to launch a unique collection that honors Burkina Faso’s artisanal weaving traditions.
Scheduled for Summer 2026, the capsule collection is a collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI). It features hand-loomed cotton textiles crafted by local artisans, aiming to support their communities and preserve cultural heritage.
PEDRO’s Capsule Collection Celebrates Burkina Faso Weaving
The collection showcases the beloved Alyssa bag, available in two sizes. Each bag is crafted from cotton textiles that reflect the intricate work of artisans in Burkina Faso. The design is inspired by the structure of a vanity case, combining clean lines with the organic feel of woven cotton.
These textiles are dyed, stretched, and woven entirely by hand, resulting in unique variations and rich material depth. The bags feature a blend of complementary hues, creating dynamic surfaces that highlight the artistry of each weaver.
Burkina Faso’s Artisanal Heritage in Modern Fashion
PEDRO’s initiative represents a shift towards a design philosophy focused on intention and cultural preservation. By collaborating directly with weaving communities, the brand aims to create sustainable economic opportunities while showcasing the importance of this heritage craft.
This approach not only supports local artisans but also integrates their artistry into contemporary design, fostering a global dialogue about craftsmanship and equitable production.
