Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport is set to break records this week.
On February 13, 2026, the airport is expected to handle 164,433 passengers, the highest single-day volume ever recorded. A total of 1,062 flights are scheduled, including 531 outbound flights carrying 104,884 passengers and 531 inbound flights with 59,549 passengers.
Record Passenger Volume Ahead of Lunar New Year
As the Lunar New Year approaches, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is bracing for a surge in travelers. Most passengers are departing Ho Chi Minh City for various localities and international destinations in anticipation of the Tet holiday, which runs from February 14 to 22. Domestic flights dominate the schedule, with over 710 take-offs and landings expected to accommodate around 100,000 passengers.
To manage this influx, the airport has organized its operations across three terminals. Terminal T3 is dedicated to domestic flights operated by several airlines, while Terminal T1 serves VietJet Air’s domestic services, and Terminal T2 is reserved for international flights.
Operational Adjustments for Peak Travel Period
During the Tet peak period, Tan Son Nhat International Airport will operate an average of 940 flights daily. This includes approximately 600 domestic flights and 340 international flights, reflecting a 25% increase from regular schedules and a 7% rise year-on-year. Airport authorities are working closely with relevant agencies to ensure security and smooth operations throughout this busy time.
Travel Tips for Passengers
- Passengers should arrive at least two hours before domestic departures.
- For international flights, arriving three hours in advance is recommended.
- Travelers are encouraged to complete web check-in or use self-service kiosks to minimize congestion.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is ready for an unprecedented travel rush this Lunar New Year.
