Reviving the Manyeha Crocodile Farm Project: A Bold New Commitment!

The Namibia Industrial Development Agency (NIDA) has exciting news for the crocodile farming and tourism sectors, announcing a revival of the Manyeha Crocodile Farm Project in Kongola. This initiative is expected to spark industrial and tourism development, bringing significant economic opportunities to the region.

In a recent statement, Acting Chief Executive Officer Phillip Namundjebo indicated that NIDA is partnering with local tourism operator Sable Hills to refurbish and enhance the existing farm facilities. This collaborative effort promises not only to breathe new life into the crocodile farm but also to create a vibrant tourism hub in Kongola.

Clearance for the project is set to begin next week, with renovations of the crocodile farm’s infrastructure slated to follow shortly thereafter. Namundjebo emphasized that the revitalization will roll out in two phases, starting with the tourism component before progressing to crocodile breeding operations. His vision is to transform Kongola into a must-visit destination for tourists, ultimately fostering local employment, skills development, and economic sustainability.

Zambezi Governor Dorothy Kabula, a key supporter and one of the project’s original founders, has welcomed this development enthusiastically. She sees it as a crucial opportunity for the local community, stating, “The commitment from NIDA in engaging regional leadership and the Mashi Traditional Authority is commendable. We are optimistic that with coordinated efforts, we will bring tangible benefits to the people of Kongola and the broader Zambezi Region.”

The community’s sentiments echo Governor Kabula’s optimism. Mashi Fumu Joseph Mayuni expressed gratitude towards the government and partners for their dedication to local development. He urged the community to unite, saying, “If we do not work together, nothing will go forward. Let’s come together and ensure that our projects progress. We are excited to welcome these investors who are set to uplift our region.”

As the Manyeha Crocodile Farm Project gears up, there is palpable excitement in the air, with locals looking forward to the economic boost and new employment opportunities this venture will bring. The collaborative spirit shown by NIDA, local leaders, and community members sets a positive tone for the project’s future, potentially elevating Kongola within Namibia’s tourism landscape.

The revitalization of the Manyeha Crocodile Farm is not just a local affair; it’s a promising step towards transforming Kongola into an economic powerhouse, benefitting all citizens in the Zambezi Region. Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses!
