Zimbabwe’s trade surplus surged significantly in August, reflecting robust export growth.

The country recorded a trade surplus of 526.5 million U.S. dollars, up from 320 million dollars in July. Exports rose to 1.68 billion dollars, while imports saw a slight increase to 1.152 billion dollars.

Zimbabwe’s Exports Drive Trade Surplus Growth

In August, Zimbabwe’s exports increased notably, reaching 1.68 billion dollars, compared to 1.47 billion dollars in July. This growth was primarily driven by semi-manufactured gold, which made up 44 percent of total exports. The United Arab Emirates emerged as the leading destination for Zimbabwean exports, accounting for 44.6 percent of the total.

China and South Africa followed as significant markets, contributing 32.2 percent and 13 percent, respectively. Together, these three nations represented nearly 90 percent of Zimbabwe’s total exports for the month.
