Morocco secures €405 million for railway and vocational training expansion

Morocco is advancing its railway infrastructure with significant financing from the African Development Bank.

The North African nation has secured financing agreements totaling €405 million (US6 million) to enhance its railway system and vocational training initiatives. This includes €205 million (US1 million) for railway infrastructure and €200 million (US5 million) for the Cap Competences 2030 vocational training program.

The agreements were signed in Rabat by Morocco’s Budget Minister Delegate Fouzi Lekjaa and AfDB Country Manager for Morocco Achraf Tarsim. They aim to bolster the operational capacity of the Kenitra-Marrakech railway corridor, a key segment of Morocco’s expanding high-speed rail network.

This financing will also modernize existing railway infrastructure, enhancing connections between major economic and urban centers. The Kenitra-Marrakech project is part of a broader initiative following the success of the Al Boraq service, which links Tangier and Casablanca.
