Kiambu couple welcomes quintuplets through normal delivery at hospital

A Kiambu couple is celebrating a remarkable birth, welcoming quintuplets at Thika County Referral Hospital.

Mercy Kanini gave birth to five babies, surprising both her and the medical team, as they had only anticipated four. Her husband, Evans Nyamuhanga, is seeking support from the county government and well-wishers to help care for their growing family.

Unexpected Quintuplets Surprise Kiambu Family

Mercy Kanini’s delivery took an unexpected turn when she gave birth to quintuplets. Initially, she was set for a caesarean section, but doctors determined she could safely deliver all five babies naturally. This joyful moment brought their total number of children to seven.

Kanini recounted the delivery, stating that one of the babies was already on the way when she arrived at the hospital. The medical team quickly adapted to the situation, allowing her to deliver without surgery.

Community Support Needed for Newborns

Evans Nyamuhanga expressed both joy and concern about the challenges ahead. He acknowledged the need for significant support to raise the quintuplets. The county government has already provided an ambulance for the family, but Nyamuhanga continues to appeal for assistance from the community.

The family’s experience highlights the joy of multiple births while also emphasizing the practical challenges that come with them. Community and institutional support will be crucial for their well-being.

Next Steps for the Kiambu Family

  • Evans Nyamuhanga is appealing for assistance from the county government.
  • The family is seeking support from well-wishers to care for the quintuplets.

This Kiambu family’s joy is met with the need for community support as they welcome five new lives.
