BYD Auto South Africa has launched the Atto 2 EV, expanding its electric vehicle offerings in the country.
The Atto 2 EV Dynamic is priced from R529 900, making it the 7th most affordable electric vehicle in South Africa. It is positioned R40 000 above the Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic PHEV variant.
BYD Atto 2 EV Launches in South Africa
The Atto 2 EV is a fully electric crossover that slots above the Atto 2 DM-i PHEV in BYD’s lineup. This new model features a front-mounted electric motor that delivers peak outputs of 130 kW and 290 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 159 kph.
Equipped with a 51.13 kWh battery, the Atto 2 EV has a WLTP range of 345 km. Charging capabilities include a maximum AC capacity of 11 kW and a DC capacity of 65 kW, allowing for a quick charge from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes using a fast charger.
Pricing and Features of the Atto 2 EV
The Atto 2 EV Dynamic is R80 000 more expensive than the Atto 2 DM-i Comfort, which is priced at R449 900. The Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic variant is available for R489 900. All prices include a comprehensive warranty and service plan.
Standard features for the Atto 2 EV Dynamic include 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control, heated front seats, and advanced driver-assistance systems. The vehicle also boasts a luggage capacity of 400 litres.
