Belarusian theater shines on an international stage.
The Belarusian State Academic Theater for Young Spectators won the Best Performance award at the 33rd Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre. The festival, held from 1 to 8 September, showcased 14 productions from 13 countries.
Belarusian Theater Triumphs in Cairo Festival
The Belarusian performance, Zhenya + Tanya = Love, drew inspiration from Alexander Pushkin’s classic, Eugene Onegin. This contemporary youth production stood out among a diverse lineup of theatrical works from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
With the support of the Embassy of Belarus in Egypt, the theater’s participation highlighted the nation’s cultural contributions. The festival’s competitive atmosphere allowed Belarus to shine, securing recognition in two categories.
