The Roger Ballen Centre for Photography is set to showcase award-winning photography in Johannesburg.
This August, the centre will host the Decisive Moment: Sony World Photography Awards exhibition, featuring images from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 awards. The exhibition runs from 15 August 2026 to 22 January 2027, providing a unique opportunity for local art enthusiasts to engage with contemporary photography.

South Africa’s Emerging Photographic Talent
Running concurrently with Decisive Moment is the New Eyes: The Roger Ballen Centre Photography Award, which focuses on emerging South African photographers. This initiative aims to elevate local voices in the photography scene, allowing them to exhibit alongside renowned international artists.
The inaugural presentation features works by Karabo Mooki, D.M. Terblanche, and Zwelibanzi Zwane, showcasing the vibrancy of contemporary photography in South Africa. Nominations for the award were made by a distinguished panel, ensuring a high standard of artistic merit.
