Egypt is taking significant steps towards renewable energy development in the Sinai Peninsula and Suez Governorate.
Ministers Kamel El-Wazir and Dr. Mahmoud Esmat recently inspected key sites in Jabal Sahaba and Jabal Ataqa. This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to enhance the use of natural resources and aims to establish wind power projects, contributing to the national energy strategy.
Egypt’s Commitment to Renewable Energy Expansion
The inspection tour focused on assessing the feasibility of utilizing the Jabal Al-Sahaba and Jabal Ataqa areas for renewable energy projects. The ministers evaluated various sites, including high-altitude locations, to determine their suitability for wind energy generation. The Jabal Sahaba area reaches altitudes of 640 meters, while Jabal Ataqa peaks at 870 meters.
During the visit, instantaneous wind speeds were measured, providing crucial data for the planning of future projects. This hands-on approach underscores the government’s commitment to diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
