Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has launched the Blue Roots tree planting initiative, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability.
This initiative is part of the Standard Bank Group’s goal to plant one million trees across Africa. The launch included a tree-planting ceremony at the future site of the bank’s new Head Office, attended by senior executives, including Board Chairman Muchakanakirwa Mukanganwi and Chief Executive Solomon Nyanhongo.

Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, serves as a global call to action for environmental protection. Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe marked this occasion by taking practical actions that align with national development priorities and global sustainability goals.
The new Head Office is set to be Zimbabwe’s first Green Star–certified building, highlighting the bank’s dedication to sustainable infrastructure and responsible growth. The trees planted include indigenous species such as Buffalo Thorn, Schotia, and Wild Gardenia, chosen to support biodiversity and environmental resilience.
