Kano State is actively promoting locally assembled vehicles through a cultural festival rally.

The Kano State Government has pledged support for cultural festivals that enhance heritage and tourism. This commitment was highlighted during the motor rally for the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, where all vehicles used were assembled in Nigeria.

Kano State’s Support for Cultural Festivals

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, welcomed the rally team as they passed through Kano. He emphasized the economic and cultural significance of the initiative, which aligns with the state’s goal of promoting local industries.

Waiya expressed pride in the use of Nigerian-assembled vehicles for the rally, stating that it demonstrates support for the country’s economy. He assured participants of full government support, including security escorts for their journey to Kebbi State.

Promoting Local Industry through the Rally

The rally serves as a major pre-event activity for the festival, aimed at encouraging the use of locally manufactured products. Alhaji Ibrahim Sulaiman, Kebbi State’s transport official for the festival, noted that the initiative is designed to boost economic empowerment and domestic production.

By increasing the patronage of locally assembled vehicles, the rally aims to conserve foreign exchange that would otherwise be spent on imports. The event also provides an opportunity for sightseeing and raising awareness as the convoy travels across states.

Next Steps for the Argungu Festival

  • The main festival will be held in Argungu, Kebbi State.
  • Participants will continue their journey with security escorts provided by the Kano State Government.
