The Zimbabwean government is expanding its work-for-fees programme to support financially vulnerable students in higher education.

Following a decision by the Treasury to make the initiative a budgeted line item, the programme aims to provide students with work opportunities on campus. Over 1,200 students have already benefited from this initiative, and the government anticipates this number will grow as it prioritizes access to education.

Dr. Shava stated that the expansion aligns with the National Development Strategy (NDS2), which aims to enhance access to quality higher education. He reiterated that no student should be excluded from education due to financial constraints.
