Namibia Post Limited Launches Pilot Payment Programme to Streamline Social Support

In an exciting development for beneficiaries of the Social Cash Grant Payment programme, Namibia Post Limited (NamPost) is rolling out a pilot payout initiative set for Thursday, October 9, at the Okahandja and Omitara Post Offices. This pilot is just the beginning, as mobile payouts are also scheduled to take place on the same day at Groot Aub and Otjimbingwe locations.

This pioneering programme, which will serve as a test run for the final operational readiness, is poised to kick off a comprehensive cash payment system across the nation starting on Monday, October 13. This is a significant step towards enhancing economic support for Namibians in need.

Structured Schedule for Enhanced Efficiency

NamPost has laid out a structured timeline for the various types of grants, ensuring that beneficiaries have a clear understanding of when they can access their funds. Here’s the schedule:

Old-Age Grants: October 13 – October 15
Child and Disability Grants: October 16 – October 18
Conditional Basic Income Grants: October 20 – October 21

Beneficiaries are encouraged to visit the post offices with their procurators, ensuring that each transaction is efficient and streamlined. Those eligible for multiple grants can collect all their payments in one go, which is especially helpful for families relying on different forms of assistance.

For those who might miss their designated payout dates, don’t fret! NamPost has made provisions for flexibility. From October 23 to October 29, beneficiaries can visit any NamPost branch to collect their grants.

Speaking to the Community

NamPost has promised robust communication regarding the mobile payments programme commencing on October 13. Beneficiaries will receive updates through local radio stations, community notice boards, and social media platforms to ensure everyone stays informed.

In an important change, re-registration for beneficiaries will coincide with the payments programme, starting during the October cycle. This is a positive adjustment, allowing for smoother operations than previously anticipated.

Accessibility for All Beneficiaries

NamPost is also keen on inclusivity. To assist bedridden beneficiaries or those unable to visit the post offices, procurators or representatives are advised to inform NamPost or local councillor offices. This proactive approach ensures that every Namibian will receive the support they require.

As Namibia embraces this new system, it is clear that NamPost is committed to improving the lives of its citizens through efficient and accessible payment systems. This initiative not only empowers families but also strengthens the economy at large. Stay tuned for more updates as NamPost continues to innovate and enhance its services.
