Derry’s Own Skhululekile Mupemhi Gears Up for Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland 2025 Final
In an exciting turn of events, Derry student Skhululekile Tsitsi Mupemhi, a vibrant 19-year-old hailing from Zimbabwe, has secured her place in the finals of Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland 2025. The highly anticipated event will take place on August 30 in Johnstown, Dublin, and promises to showcase the incredible talent and spirit of African women in Ireland. Skhululekile, who is prepping to start her Bio Medical Science studies at Queen’s University in Belfast this September, is driven to represent Northern Ireland with pride.
Having lived in Derry for two years, Skhululekile describes the city as a beautiful chapter in her family’s journey. She expresses gratitude for the warm and welcoming community that has embraced her and her family. “While Zimbabwe is our home, Derry has become a second home, and I’m so proud to represent Northern Ireland in this year’s pageant,” she shared enthusiastically.
However, the path to the finals isn’t without its challenges. Skhululekile is seeking sponsorship to help cover the costs associated with her participation, which include evening gowns, casual wear, hair, makeup, and other essentials. As a student, she finds balancing finances to be a struggle but remains optimistic. “Only being a student, bringing in some financial support would be great so I can fully represent Northern Ireland and look my best,” she said.
Beyond her pageant preparations, Skhululekile is deeply committed to the local community. She serves as a youth leader with the African Caribbean Community Network (ACCN) and dedicates her spare time to volunteering with the NSPCC. Her passion for helping young people is evident, as she finds fulfillment in relating to and empowering the youth in her community.
The Miss/Mrs Africa Ireland competition is not merely about beauty; it signifies cultural representation and personal growth. Taking part in numerous workshops and boot camps leading up to the event, Skhululekile has fostered friendships with fellow contestants, affirming that the camaraderie and experiences shared have immensely enriched her journey.
Skhululekile’s family and friends have been instrumental in supporting her throughout this period, and she cannot express her appreciation enough for their encouragement. Inspired by her mother’s ambition to enhance maternal and child health globally, Skhululekile is determined to make her mark, transcending borders and inspiring others along the way.
As the event date approaches, Skhululekile is rallying support from local businesses, hairdressers, and makeup artists to help her shine at the finals. Anyone interested in assisting her can reach out directly at 07467311046 or via email at xulueangela@gmail.com.
