Windhoek Enhances Business Processes to Empower Entrepreneurs and Boost Economic Growth
In a significant move towards improving the ease of doing business, the City of Windhoek is re-engineering its systems to simplify the process of obtaining duplication and business fitness certificates. This initiative comes in response to feedback from residents who previously found the existing procedures lengthy and cumbersome.
Lisa Figaji, the Head of Business Development at the City of Windhoek, shared her insights at the recent Business Summit Namibia, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to streamlining operations. “We understand the challenges faced by our business community,” Figaji said. “Our IT department is working closely with us to transform these processes. I can confidently assure you that by the end of this financial year, we will unveil a re-engineered business process that is leaner, more efficient, and ultimately will enhance our service delivery.”
The Business Summit Namibia served as a platform for various institutions to come together, focusing on strategic partnerships and innovative solutions that can uplift the local economy. Attendees included business leaders, government officials, and aspiring entrepreneurs, all eager to share ideas and foster growth within the region.
Joseph Onesmus, the Intellectual Property Enforcement Manager at the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA), also addressed the gathering, highlighting the recently simplified business registration process. He illustrated how formalizing a business unlocks a wealth of potential benefits, from access to supportive services to improving a company’s credibility in the marketplace. “Remaining informal means missing out on significant opportunities,” Onesmus urged, encouraging all vendors present to take the crucial step towards registration.
