The MTC 4 Life program has officially kicked off its hands-on business training sessions for 40 enthusiastic candidates across Namibia. This initiative, aimed at empowering the nation’s youth, spans three weeks and covers a variety of essential trades, including Upholstery, Hairdressing, Barbering, Carpentry, Welding, Electricity and Solar, and Brick Manufacturing. The young trainees are gathering in key cities—Ondangwa, Katima Mulilo, Swakopmund, and Windhoek—ready to acquire skills that can spark their entrepreneurial journeys.
Among the participants is 28-year-old Gervasius Isaak from Omitara in the Omaheke region. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the MTC 4 Life program, encouraging other young people to embrace such opportunities. “Being part of the MTC 4 Life program has truly transformed the way I see myself and my future. I feel empowered, not just with knowledge and skills, but with a sense of purpose and direction,” Gervasius shared. He elaborated on how the program has instilled in him a newfound confidence, equipping him with the tools to face challenges positively.
The MTC 4 Life program is a standout example of corporate social responsibility in action. This annual initiative has attracted considerable interest from Namibian youth, evidenced by over 250 applications from four regions—Zambezi, Erongo, Hardap, and Omaheke. The program not only highlights the need for practical education but also emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship in fostering economic growth.
Erasmus Nekundi, MTC’s Corporate Communications Practitioner, noted the substantial investment made in the program since its inception, which currently stands at N.5 million. After this training cycle, 131 Namibian youth will have benefited from the initiative. As a unique feature of the program, each trainee will receive a startup toolkit and N00 in capital upon completion. This funding is designed to help them kickstart their micro businesses, paving the way for self-employment and economic independence.
MTC has also partnered with SME compete, field experts who will guide these budding entrepreneurs as they navigate the challenges of business ownership. This ensures that participants not only start their businesses but learn how to sustain and grow them for long-term success.
The MTC 4 Life program serves as a beacon of hope for Namibia’s youth, showing that with the right support and resources, the future can be bright. #Namibia #BusinessNews #Lifestyle #YouthEmpowerment #Entrepreneurship
