Sarah Sakala: Inspiring Change and Embracing Community at Miss, Mrs and Mr Africa UK and Ireland Pageant in Manchester

In an exciting development for the African community in the UK, Sarah Sakala, who previously won the title of Miss Amiable at the Miss Africa GB pageant, is set to represent Reading in the upcoming Miss, Mrs and Mr Africa UK and Ireland pageant in Manchester later this year. This vibrant event celebrates the richness and diversity of African cultures across the UK and Ireland, and Sarah is ready to make her mark!

At 35 years old and a proud single mother of two autistic children, Sarah is not only a devoted parent but also the entrepreneur behind Sakala Cleaning Service. Her inspiring journey began when she moved to the UK from Botswana at the age of 14, and she has since made Reading her home. Sarah is passionate about empowering women in her community to pursue their dreams and believes in the strength of resilience.

“I am proud to be representing Reading as a finalist in this significant pageant,” said Sarah, emphasizing that her participation goes beyond the allure of beauty. “This experience represents a personal transformation, and I want to inspire other women to chase their ambitions.” Her goal is to connect with like-minded individuals from across the UK and Ireland who are challenging conventional perceptions of beauty and influence.

What sets the Miss, Mrs and Mr Africa UK and Ireland pageant apart is its emphasis on character, community impact, and inclusivity. It is a genuine celebration of African culture, encouraging participation from individuals of all genders, shapes, and sizes. “We are showcasing the strength and diversity of our communities while highlighting personal stories that matter,” she explained.

Sarah is deeply engaged with various projects aimed at uplifting African communities in Reading. Notably, she is involved in organizing a cultural festival that will celebrate the art, music, and vibrant traditions of African cultures. She is proud to have the support of Councillor Glenn Dennis, Reading’s first black Mayor. Councillor Dennis, an advocate for diversity and inclusion, has championed various causes during his tenure, including the Reading Community Learning Centre, which supports marginalized women from diverse backgrounds. Sarah is also a supporter of this impactful initiative.

The upcoming pageant not only promises to be a spectacular showcase of talent but also a platform for meaningful discussion and community connection. As Sarah prepares for this significant event, her journey serves as a beacon of hope and motivation for many, proving that with passion and perseverance, we can all redefine our narratives.
