Enhancing Sustainable Supply Chains: OCP Group and Maersk Sign Landmark MoU

In an exciting development for the logistics and supply chain sectors, the OCP Group, a leading Moroccan phosphate producer, has partnered with multinational logistics giant Maersk in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on April 7, 2025. This strategic agreement aims to bolster their long-standing collaboration while emphasizing sustainable and innovative approaches to supply chain management.

Both companies are eager to explore various initiatives within the realm of ocean and inland transportation, logistics services, and digitalized supply chain management. The MoU is particularly significant for OCP’s Specialty Products & Solutions (SPS) business unit, as it aims to enhance ocean freight capacity, expand into new global markets, and establish flexible storage and distribution networks. By investing in advanced logistics capabilities, OCP is poised to accelerate its international growth while ensuring efficient operations across its supply chain.

A standout aspect of this collaboration is the commitment to sustainability. Together, OCP and Maersk will embark on initiatives aimed at decarbonizing logistics operations, exploring sustainable fuel solutions, and adopting energy-efficient practices. Both companies are targeting ambitious goals, including a pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. This commitment reflects a growing recognition of the importance of environmental responsibility in business operations—a view shared by many industry leaders today.

In a bid to foster knowledge sharing and professional development, the partners will also launch joint initiatives with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). These programs will focus on advancing education in logistics, supply chain management, and sustainability, equipping the next generation of leaders with crucial skills for a rapidly evolving industry.

Established over a century ago, OCP Group is firmly rooted in enhancing soil fertility and plant growth. With a robust workforce of over 17,000 employees and operations spanning five continents, OCP has carved out a significant presence in global markets. The company recently announced a green investment strategy to allocate about billion between 2023 and 2027, focusing on renewable energy investments and sustainable water practices.

On the flip side, A.P. Moller – Maersk, headquartered in Denmark, operates across 130 countries, employing around 100,000 individuals dedicated to simplifying and connecting global supply chains. The synergies created through this partnership stand to significantly impact both companies’ operations and underline the growing trend of sustainability in logistics.

As OCP and Maersk embark on this forward-thinking collaboration, the industry watches closely, recognizing the potential these initiatives have for redefining sustainable practices in supply chains across the globe.
