“Namib Revives Zimbabwe Mines and Launches Exciting Exploration in DRC!”

Namib Minerals (Nasdaq: NAMM) is on the move, leveraging the success of its How gold mine in Zimbabwe to kickstart a dynamic growth strategy that involves reopening two additional mines and launching ambitious copper and cobalt exploration efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In a recent interview with Africazine, CEO Ibrahimia Tall shared details about the company’s plans to ramp up operations and expand its mineral portfolio.

The company’s How gold mine, which produced about 27,000 ounces last year, is poised for significant growth. A feasibility study is currently underway, aimed at boosting the mine’s output even further. During the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference held in Toronto, Tall expressed confidence in the company’s capabilities: “We are cash generators and we intend to generate way more cash when we reopen these mines.” This optimism reflects a broader trend in the mining industry, especially amidst increasing global demand for metals used in battery production.

Namib Minerals is not stopping at gold; the company has ambitious plans in the pipeline for its other operations. The revival of the Mazowe and Redwing mines is expected to significantly bolster its production base in Zimbabwe, showcasing the company’s commitment to sustainable growth in the region.

In addition, the exploration and development of 13 battery metal permits in the DRC are set to be supported by the cash flow generated from the How mine. Tall noted promising early drilling results, which suggest strong potential for near-surface copper and cobalt. This positions Namib Minerals at the forefront of the burgeoning market for battery metals, essential for renewable energy solutions and electric vehicles. The company aims to convert these permits into officially declared resources by the end of the year, marking a substantial step forward in its mining endeavors.

With the global push towards green technology and sustainable mining practices, Namib Minerals is well-positioned to benefit from this transformative moment. For those interested in the intersection of mining and sustainability, this evolving story represents a blend of opportunity and innovation.

Stay tuned for the full interview with CEO Ibrahimia Tall, where he shares insights on the future of Namib Minerals and the mining industry as a whole.
