SASSA’s Senior Manager of Communications, Sandy Godlwana, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We chose Port Shepstone specifically due to some challenges at the local SASSA office. It’s crucial for us to reach out to the community, inform them of our services, and provide solutions to any pending grant-related issues.”</p>
<p>One of the significant highlights of the day was encouraging participants to transition from their traditional gold cards to new black cards, which boast enhanced security features. In an era where safeguarding personal information is more critical than ever, this simple change can offer peace of mind to many South Africans.</p>
<p>Additionally, Godlwana addressed concerns regarding the R370 Covid grant, acknowledging that some individuals had encountered delays in receiving their funds. She stated, “We want to ensure that everyone receives the support they deserve, and we’re here to help expedite that process.”</p>
<p>Although in-person home visits have been paused, SASSA remains committed to assisting individuals facing unique challenges. Godlwana mentioned that support will continue to be provided on a case-by-case basis for those who are ill or disabled. Family members are encouraged to call the dedicated helpline at 0800 601011 to schedule any necessary visits.</p>
<p>For those looking to access SASSA services, Godlwana advised that individuals can visit their nearest post office or participating supermarkets like Shoprite, Boxer, U-save, Pick n Pay, and Checkers. This service is set to remain available until June 2025, making it easier for residents to collect their grants and manage their financial affairs.</p>
