Exciting Gold Discovery in Senegal: Thor Explorations' Douta West License Yields Promising Results

In a remarkable development this week, Thor Explorations Ltd (TSX-V: THX, AIM: THX, OTC: THXPF) announced a significant gold discovery at their Douta West license located in Senegal, showcasing the country’s rich mineral resources and the potential for economic growth.

Having acquired the Douta West license about a year prior, Thor Explorations has been busy enhancing their existing Douta gold project. The company’s announcement follows the successful drilling of two new holes in the Douta West area, which is strategically situated adjacent to their primary project. This discovery is indeed a testament to the robust possibility that lies within Senegal’s mining industry.

Thor’s CEO, Segun Lawson, recently joined Africazine to shed light on the latest find and what it means for the company moving forward. Lawson expressed enthusiasm for the recent results, which reveal impressive drill intersections measuring between 12 to 20 meters, with gold grades ranging from 1.3 to over 2 grams per ton. The finds span approximately two kilometers and comprise oxide material that is both recoverable and economically viable.

“It’s all about enhancing the economics of our project,” Lawson noted, emphasizing the importance of integrating these new ounces into the mine plan to maximize their potential. He outlined plans to continue drilling along the strike length to fully assess the find. Additionally, the company is working to convert inferred materials within their existing pit into indicated resources that can be utilized in future mining operations.

Lawson continued to emphasize Thor’s commitment to building a sustainable project that not only serves the company but also adds value for its shareholders. “We’re not just conducting exploration for academic results; we’re here to build something substantial,” Lawson stated.

As the company gears up to finalize details for a preliminary feasibility study (PFS), the focus remains on compiling updated figures from the drilling program and integrating them into the overall mine plan.

The momentum being generated at the Douta site is not only exciting for Thor Explorations but also reflects positively on the broader socio-economic landscape of Senegal and its efforts to attract foreign investment in the mining sector. With increasing interest and investments pouring into this promising region, Senegal is carving a niche for itself as a mining hotspot in Africa.

Stay tuned as we follow Thor Explorations’ journey in uncovering more valuable resources in Senegal, and witness how this gold find could contribute to the vibrancy of the local economy.
