“Vivo Energy Foundation’s Impact: Empowering Communities and Brightening Futures”

In a recent vibrant visit to Mauritius, Stan Mittelman, the CEO of Vivo Energy, took a meaningful step beyond business by engaging with the talented musicians of Atelier Mo’Zar, located in the heart of Roche-Bois. A passionate music lover with a deep appreciation for jazz, Mittelman shared an inspiring musical moment with students, showcasing the power of music as a universal language that connects cultures and emotions. Accompanied by Hans Paulsen, Executive Vice President for East and South Africa at Vivo Energy, along with Matthias de Larminat and Belinda Teeroovengadum, the visit highlighted a collective commitment to enriching the local community through the arts.

Vivo Energy Foundation, which launched in November 2022, is stepping up to support this creative venture. The Foundation is significantly contributing to the journey of Atelier Mo’Zar’s students as they prepare for their inspiring tour in Belgium and France. This tour coincides with the premiere of the documentary film, “Mo’Zar Mon Style,” a project that promises to highlight the incredible talent of these young musicians.

Matthias de Larminat, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mauritius, emphasized the Foundation’s evolving mission, stating, “Our commitment to the community remains our top priority. We believe music transcends language, cultural, and geographical barriers. Supporting this project allows young talents from Roche-Bois to gain world-class experiences, such as attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Together, we can create a world where music inspires and transforms lives.”

The excitement is palpable at Atelier Mo’Zar. Valérie Lemaire, the director, expressed gratitude for Vivo Energy Foundation’s partnership, reflecting, “Their support provides our young artists the chance to shine on an international stage. We are thrilled to collaborate with Vivo Energy Mauritius, an organization that genuinely understands our local community’s needs.”

Founded over 25 years ago by the late José Thérèse, Atelier Mo’Zar aims to empower local youth and combat social exclusion through music education. The trajectory of the documentary “Mo’Zar Mon Style” began four years ago, culminating in its highly anticipated release this year. Directed by Belgian filmmaker Sébastien Pertretti, the film chronicles the experiences of a young student, Nolwenn, providing a poignant look at the transformative power of music education. The highly anticipated premiere will take place at the Théâtre Molière in Brussels on June 21, and the delegation, consisting of 24 members—including 19 musicians aged between 14 to 22—will perform five shows as part of their tour across Belgium and France.

This initiative not only highlights the rich cultural tapestry of Mauritius but also underscores the impact of music in fostering international connections and opportunities for youth. For anyone interested in witnessing the spirit of collaboration and artistic growth within Africa, following the journey of these young musicians is a must.
