Massive Cruise Ship Arrives in Luanda, Brings Over 1,900 Adventurous Tourists to Explore Angola!

A Warm Welcome for Norwegian Sky: Tourists Sail into Angola’s Enriching Capital

In an exciting turn of events, the Port of Luanda welcomed the cruise ship “Norwegian Sky,” marking a significant moment for Angola’s burgeoning tourism sector. On Monday, nearly 1,936 enthusiastic tourists from diverse corners of the globe – including Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, China, South Africa, and the United States – docked for a nine-hour adventure in the capital city.

The itinerary was a delightful blend of history and culture, taking visitors to iconic sites such as the breathtaking Miradouro-da-Lua, the historic Fortaleza de São Miguel, the elegant Palácio de Ferro, and the picturesque Baía de Luanda, among other remarkable attractions. As the cruise ship journeyed from Lisbon, heading towards the Canary Islands and beyond, this brief sojourn in Angola was a highlight.

Among the eager travelers was Brazilian tourist Zuleide Porto, who described her first trip to Africa as a dream come true. “This warm welcome really shows that Angola is a brotherly nation, with a culture very similar to that of Brazil,” she proudly exclaimed, highlighting the cultural ties that unite the two nations.

American visitor Diana Trusk shared her unique perspective, noting how this cruise coincided with an important day—the visit of American President Joe Biden to Angola. Trusk, who has many Angolan friends, expressed hope that such exchanges will strengthen the relationship between the United States and Angola, underscoring Angola’s stability and growth potential on the continent.

Meanwhile, German tourist Cristiane Erica admitted that she didn’t know much about Angola prior to her visit. However, she was charmed by the warm reception, which included traditional dances that vividly showcased the local culture.

This landmark visit is orchestrated by the Trave-Gest Tourism Agency and marks the second cruise ship to dock in Luanda this year, following the arrival of the “Serenade of the Seas” with 767 tourists in June. José Cabral, the Director General of Trave-Gest, proudly noted that this is the 51st cruise to visit Luanda since 2012, emphasizing Angola’s growing reputation as a vibrant tourist destination.

With each new visitor, Angola continues to reveal its rich heritage and warm hospitality. As the tourism scene flourishes, it’s clear that the country’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural wealth will continue to entice more travelers to explore its beautiful offerings.
