Lagos State Assembly Greenlights Governor Sanwo-Olu’s New Appointees
In a significant move for governance in Lagos State, the Lagos State House of Assembly has officially confirmed the appointments of nominees proposed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and several other key agencies. The confirmation followed a meticulous screening process conducted by a 12-member ad-hoc committee of the Assembly, led by Chief Whip Hon. Mojeed Fatai. Sa’ad Olumoh referenced the nominations as fitting “round pegs in round holes,” applauding the impressive credentials and professional expertise that make these individuals ideal for their respective positions. The confirmed appointments were not limited to LASIEC. The Assembly also approved nominees for several prominent positions, including the Office of the State Auditor-General, the General Manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), and the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). These roles are essential to the effective governance and service delivery in the bustling metropolis.
Among the newly confirmed appointees, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile (Rtd.) takes the helm as Chairman of LASIEC. Other confirmed members include Samson Ajibade, Oluwo Akin Durojaiye, Dr. Metilelu Olumide Olusola, Aileru Abeeb Dapo, and Hon. Oladele Adekanye. Mr. Adetola Muyiwa John will step in as State Auditor-General, while Engr. Balogun Kamaldeen Abiodun Temidayo has been named the General Manager of LSEB. Lastly, Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande will serve as the Executive Secretary of LSETF.
Deputy Speaker Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda presided over the plenary session, emphasizing that these appointments represent the Assembly’s dedication to improving governance and delivering high-quality leadership across Lagos State.
