Engen and Proconics Partner to Enrich Educational Experience at Merebank Secondary School

Identified by the Community-Engen Joint Committee as a school that could benefit from additional resources, Merebank Secondary School received a significant boost with funding of R40,000 dedicated to robotics and coding equipment. The funds will allow students at the school to dive deep into the exciting world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
With these resources, the school is set to acquire an impressive array of tools designed to foster innovation and enhance practical learning. The procurement list includes 60 AAA batteries, 15 classroom Smart Home kits, 15 Smart Home material packs, 15 Ring Bit car v2 kits, 15 Microbit starter kits, and 10 crocodile clips. This investment shows a strong commitment to creating an engaging and conducive learning environment, encouraging learners to explore their curiosity and talents in technology.
Vimla Chetty, acting deputy principal of Merebank Secondary School, expressed deep gratitude for this generous support, pointing out the transformative impact these resources will have on the school’s robotics and coding programs for grades eight and nine. “It’s essential to teach our pupils the coding skills necessary to function in a digital and information-driven world,” she noted. The school has ambitious plans to expand this exciting program to additional grades by 2025, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to education.
