By Africazine
In a vibrant demonstration of international cooperation, China has solidified its longstanding relationship with Zimbabwe through the successful refurbishment of Chiwaridzo Primary School in Bindura. This significant project not only enhances the local educational infrastructure but also showcases China’s ongoing commitment to supporting Zimbabwe in various sectors.
The renovation of Chiwaridzo Primary School has been met with enthusiasm from the community, bringing hope and joy to residents. One local expressed their gratitude, stating, “I am happy about this day, it reminds us of the relationship between Zimbabwe and China. We have a beautiful school built in Bindura, and we are very happy.” Another resident chimed in, “We are celebrating the prizes our kids received, and we are also celebrating the contributions made by the Chinese embassy for our school.”
Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding reaffirmed his country’s dedication to continuing support for Zimbabwe, emphasizing the importance of empowering the nation’s youth. “China will continue to work with the government of Zimbabwe and all stakeholders to cultivate talents for the country. Our efforts will never stop. In the coming years, we plan to introduce numerous solar-powered facilities to rural areas. To assist Zimbabwe in overcoming drought-induced food crises, we will also provide over US million in emergency food assistance next year,” he declared.
The government of Zimbabwe expressed its deep appreciation for China’s role in advancing the nation’s educational goals. Mr. Levi Katambarare, the Economics Director, highlighted the significance of such collaborations in enhancing the lives of citizens. “Your support as an all-weather friend is invaluable, and we appreciate the important role your government continues to play in enhancing the lives of our people. This refurbishment celebrates not only the rehabilitated school structures but is a significant step towards our commitment to National Strategy One, which aims to improve access to quality education,” he explained.
Originally established in 2011 with Chinese aid, Chiwaridzo Primary School is part of a network of educational institutions known as China-Zimbabwe friendship schools. These schools are a symbol of the enduring partnership between the two nations, fostering mutual benefits and shared aspirations for future generations.
As Zimbabwe continues to navigate its developmental journey, projects like this one reflect the potential of international partnerships to create impactful change. With education being pivotal to national growth, the collaboration between China and Zimbabwe serves as an inspiring example for other countries aiming for progress through friendship and cooperation.
