Unique Group Foundation Supports Crab Island TVET Centre with Essential Donations

In a heartwarming ceremony, the Unique Group Foundation recently donated vital equipment, including UPS systems and electric surge protectors, to the Crab Island Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre. Leading the presentation was Mrs. Fatou Hughes Mahmoud, the Foundation’s CEO, who expressed her optimism that these donated items would significantly enhance the Centre’s IT program.

Originally intended for an earlier presentation, the event was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm surrounding the donation remained palpable. “These items are not just hardware; they’re a commitment to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals in our community,” Mrs. Mahmoud noted.

Ousman Sillah, the Chairperson of the Crab Island TVET Foundation (CITVETF), received the equipment on behalf of the Board and Administration. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of the donation, describing it as a profound example of corporate social responsibility. Sillah, who also serves as the Secretary General of the Abuja-based Sub-Saharan Africa Skills and Apprenticeship Stakeholders Network (SASASNET), emphasized the significance of this support as Crab Island TVET Centre expands its course offerings, particularly concerning the newly introduced Information Technology program.

“The timing of this donation couldn’t be better,” Sillah stated. “As we embark on this new academic year, these accessories will greatly enhance our training capacity and the quality of education we provide.” He pointed out that this intervention marked a crucial step in equipping the Centre’s fresh IT Department, signaling optimism for its future endeavors.

In his gratitude, Sillah extended heartfelt thanks to Alhaji Papa Yusupha Njie, the CEO of the Unique Group, for his unwavering support and commitment to the TVET initiative. Interestingly, Sillah revealed that he had consulted Mr. Njie’s father when brainstorming the concept for the TVET program, underlining a longstanding partnership that aims to bolster the nation’s manpower resources.

Such initiatives are vital for fostering skill development in Algeria and beyond, supporting the belief that education is a cornerstone of social and economic growth. As our communities evolve, sustained investment in vocational training will undoubtedly pave the way for a more skilled and competitive workforce.
