Strengthening Ties: Libya and Tunisia Discuss Economic Cooperation

In a significant meeting aimed at boosting economic collaboration, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Muhammad Al-Hawaij, recently engaged with Asaad Al-Ajili, the Tunisian Ambassador to Libya. This interaction underscores a renewed commitment to enhancing the economic ties between the two neighboring nations. Their discussions focus on revitalizing trade movement through common land ports and streamlining procedures to facilitate the seamless passage of goods and services.

Both representatives acknowledged the dynamic nature of their existing economic and commercial relations and emphasized the urgent need to establish a joint working mechanism. This would include support for the private sector, entrepreneurs, and businesses, allowing both countries to unlock their economic potential and leverage each other’s resources and expertise. This commitment aims to foster economic integration that benefits citizens of both nations.

One concrete step proposed during their talks was convening the joint supreme trade committee, headed by the prime ministers of Libya and Tunisia, in the vibrant capital city of Tripoli. This would represent a crucial forum for defining a shared vision for economic expansion.

The meeting also welcomed several influential figures, including Muhammad Al-Raid, Chairman of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, and important members of Al-Hawaij’s team. Their collaboration signifies a proactive approach to regional unity and economic prosperity.

In tandem with these discussions, Al-Hawaij met with Sven Krospe, the Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Germany. This meeting was pivotal in addressing Libya’s economic and financial challenges, fostering long-term cooperation. They explored actionable recommendations from a previous joint economic and trade forum held in Tripoli, which centered on systematic implementation strategies.

Cooperation between the Libyan and German private sectors emerged as a key focus, particularly in simplifying visa procedures for business leaders and investors keen on participating in economic ventures. This initiative is expected to facilitate greater business exchanges and bolster the professional ties between Libya and Germany.

Looking ahead, these diplomatic engagements signal a positive outlook for economic growth and collaboration in North Africa. #Libya #Tunisia #BusinessNews #WorldNews
