Animal Adoption Fees Waived in Lancaster County: A Heartwarming Opportunity for Pet Lovers
LANCASTER, Pa. — This weekend, animal lovers in south-central Pennsylvania have an exciting opportunity to welcome a new furry friend into their homes, as Humane Pennsylvania has decided to waive all adoption fees at their shelters. Running from Saturday to Sunday, the event takes place at the Lancaster Adoption Center for Cats and Critters, located along Lincoln Highway East, and will open its doors to the community from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Local shelters have an abundance of lovable cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and more, all eagerly awaiting their forever homes. Damon March, the Director of Operations for Humane PA, shared his thoughts on the initiative, saying, “We have a wonderful environment and caring staff here, but these animals are in need of warm homes to thrive. Events like this are vital for raising awareness about the many animals in shelters looking for loving families.”
This heartwarming effort is part of NBCUniversal’s annual Clear the Shelters initiative, a nationwide campaign that has helped facilitate over a million adoptions since its inception in 2015. As part of this initiative, adoption fees will also be waived at the Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving in Reading, emphasizing a collective effort to find homes for animals in need.
If you’re considering expanding your family, this is a fantastic chance to adopt a pet while saving on initial costs. Check out the available animals at the Lancaster Adoption Center and the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, which is also participating by waiving adoption fees on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For those who can’t adopt but still wish to contribute, local organizations are always in need of fosters and volunteers. Show your support by helping spread the word about these wonderful opportunities to help our furry friends find loving homes.
By participating in initiatives like these, you join a community dedicated to animal welfare, making a positive difference in both the lives of these animals and your local area. Whether you’re a long-time pet owner or contemplating your first pet, this weekend could be the perfect time to discover the joy of animal companionship.
