Pay TV channel Supersport has reached an agreement with the rights holders New World TV of Togo to secure the broadcast rights to air the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
Supersport announced last week they had failed to acquire the rights to broadcast the tournament in the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11 but left the door open for last-minute negotiations.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, the pay-TV channel confirmed they will broadcast all the 52 matches of the continental showpiece.
Rendani Ramovha, SuperSport CEO, said: “We are delighted to be able to showcase the best of African football live to our viewers.”
As part of this agreement, Nimonka Kolani, Managing Director of NWTV, declared: “By securing the rights to CAN 2023 under the leadership of Dr Patrice Motsepe, SuperSport and NWTV prove that nothing is more important than the happiness of Africans who wish to follow the exploits of their favourite team during the biggest football competition in Africa.”
The eagerly awaited African showpiece is set to kick off on Saturday, with host nation Ivory Coast locking horns with Guinea-Bissau.
