Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa called on all Nigerians to support the team during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which starts in three days in Côte d’Ivoire.
Jose Peseiro and his men are going to the competition with many doubts over their capacity to win Nigeria it’s fourth AFCON title after 1980, 1994 and 2013.
Super Eagles who camped in Abu Dhabi to prepare the competiiton, lost 0-2 to Guinea in their friendly game and stirred a lot of scepticism amis fans.
However, Ahmed Musa insists that the team will need the support from the whole country for them to feel at home in Ivory Coast and perform to make proud the Nigerian flag.
“Everybody is happy in camp, excited, just waiting for us to go to Abidjan for the start of the tournament”, he said before the team left Nigeria.
“The message I have for Nigerians is just believe in the team, that is the only thing we need. With their support, we can go far.”
In addition, Nigeria is in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
