Banjul, 20th June 2025: In a forward-thinking move aimed at boosting infrastructure and connectivity in The Gambia, His Excellency President Adama Barrow embarked on an extensive roads inspection tour on June 18. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s transport network, a crucial aspect of national development. The tour kicked off at the Ebo Town Junction Road along the West Field Brikama Highway, where the President evaluated various ongoing road projects currently in progress within the Greater Banjul Area.

During his visit to Ebo Town Badala, President Barrow had the pleasure of engaging with local residents who warmly welcomed him with a Quranic recitation prayer. This community interaction underscored the importance of road infrastructure in fostering economic growth and enhancing community welfare. As the convoy continued its journey, it made a stop at the Tabokoto-Banjulinding Road EPC Lot 5, allowing the President to assess the quality and progress of this essential project.

As the tour progressed, President Barrow inspected the Wellingara-Abuko road and Sinchu Wellingara Road, expressing his satisfaction with the advancements made thus far. He emphasized the significance of addressing existing stormwater drainage issues to prevent future inconveniences for residents—a critical point for successful urban planning.

Moving forward, the convoy visited Farato Bojang Kunda, where the asphalt works were closely monitored. The President reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that all road projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety. After concluding the inspection at Farato, the convoy made its way to Airport Junction, continuing through P6 opposite Muhammad Jah Junction and later driving through Kerr Serign before exiting at Kololi New Road.

The tour culminated with a press briefing at the end of P18, where President Barrow passionately highlighted the transformative role of road infrastructure in The Gambia. “We are making significant strides in improving our road networks, which will ultimately enhance the quality of life for our citizens and stimulate economic activities,” he stated as he reassured citizens of the government’s dedication to completing these crucial infrastructure projects.

Complementing the President’s observations, Honorable Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, noted that these inspections reflect the government’s robust investment strategy in infrastructure, which is a cornerstone of the National Development Agenda. “As we approach the completion of these projects, the Gambian people can look forward to a more connected and economically prosperous nation,” he said.

As The Gambia picks up momentum in infrastructure enhancement, these developments are set to pave the way for significant economic growth and improved quality of life for all citizens.
