Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family Gives Back: A Gift of Education for Future Generations in Lagos

In a generous and inspiring gesture, the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family of Igbogbo has proudly donated two newly constructed 100-bed hostel buildings to the Lagos State Government. This significant contribution, located at the esteemed Lagos State Civil Service Model College in Igbogbo, speaks volumes about the family’s commitment to educational development and paying homage to their late patriarchs, Amos and Festus Ogunlewe.

During a heartwarming ceremony marking the formal handover of the twin hostel buildings, Prince Akinola Ogunlewe, the head of the royal family, expressed his pride in continuing the legacy of his ancestors. He emphasized that the project was inspired by the remarkable contributions of Amos Ogunlewe, the first resident of Igbogbo to receive formal education, and Oba Festus Ogunlewe, the first educated monarch in the Igbogbo Kingdom and the wider Lagos Colony.

Highlighting the profound importance of education, Prince Ogunlewe stated, “It is essential to memorialize the achievements of our forebears by creating lasting legacies that will benefit future generations.” His remarks resonated with attendees, particularly as the inheritance of a strong educational foundation remains crucial for community growth.

Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, spoke on behalf of the state government, praising the Ogunlewe family for their dedication to preserving the legacies of their ancestors through this impactful investment. He lauded the collective efforts of local educational stakeholders and leaders in making District 2 a standout in the state’s educational landscape.

Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, conveyed his commendation through his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. Saheed Ibikunle. He underscored the importance of such contributions to the human capacity development of Lagos State, which is essential for fostering a thriving community.

Adding to the chorus of praise was Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House of Reps Committee on Defence, who acknowledged the Ogunlewe family’s pivotal role in advancing education within the state. He encouraged others to follow their lead, stating that community support is vital for nurturing exceptional students.

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, along with the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, also took the opportunity to reflect on the incredible legacies left by the late patriarchs, celebrating their lifelong dedication to education and community development.

With such supportive initiatives, the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Royal Family is not just making a significant contribution to education; they are planting seeds for future success in the hearts and minds of the younger generation, ensuring that knowledge continues to flourish in Igbogbo and beyond.
