In a significant boost to local healthcare, Blessing Hospital in Quincy has welcomed three new hospitalists to its team, enhancing the quality and availability of inpatient medical care. Hospitalists, whether physicians or nurse practitioners, specialize in the comprehensive management of patients who are admitted to hospitals, playing a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes and streamlining care processes.
Introducing Dr. Eric Gladstone, a nocturnist who provides care exclusively during the night shift. Dr. Gladstone, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, obtained his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. With a quirky sense of humor, he shared, “My parents were strict with bedtime, so naturally I decided to only work nights.” His unique approach to healthcare allows him to cater to the needs of patients when traditional hours may leave their medical requirements unattended.
Joining him is Dr. Anshu Kataria, a dedicated physician who has a powerful story of inspiration stemming from his grandfather. Dr. Kataria earned his medical degree from the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University and completed his internal medicine residency at the Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. “He believed in the power of education,” Kataria stated, emphasizing the value of learning in his medical career. With a master’s degree in medical sciences and dual bachelor’s degrees in cell biology/neuroscience and psychology, Dr. Kataria brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the hospital.
Last but not least is Dr. Philippe Nyembo, who graduated in the top three percent of his class at the University of Rwanda College of Medicine and Health Sciences. With a residency completed at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Dr. Nyembo recounts how one of his mentors taught him the importance of empathy in medicine. “She taught me that you can be a human and an amazing doctor,” he remarked, reflecting on the compassionate side of the healthcare profession. Additionally, he holds a master of science degree in clinical research from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, positioning him well to contribute to evidence-based clinical practices.
The addition of these three dedicated professionals highlights Blessing Hospital’s commitment to providing top-notch medical care and improving patient experiences in Quincy and beyond. As healthcare continues to evolve, having skilled hospitalists like Dr. Gladstone, Dr. Kataria, and Dr. Nyembo ensures that patients receive attentive and effective care at all hours of the day.
