Exciting New Refrigerated Export Yard Launches at Beira Port, Boosting Mozambique’s Trade Opportunities!

The Port of Beira: A Hub for Reefer Exports and Expanding Infrastructure

The Port of Beira is making waves in the world of trade with impressive growth in reefer exports, and it’s not just seafood that’s riding the wave! Traditionally known for its seafood exports, the port is now welcoming a steady influx of citrus fruits, taking full advantage of the Beira Corridor’s strategic position. This development couldn’t come at a better time, as the demand for quality reefer cargo continues to surge.

In response to this uptick, Cornelder de Moçambique (CdM) has constructed a state-of-the-art export reefer yard boasting a capacity for 64 reefer plugs, conveniently located near the quays. This new facility is designed to alleviate pressure on the existing yard, which currently accommodates 144 reefer plugs. The efficient layout and strategic positioning mean quicker turnaround times for loading and unloading cargo, proving beneficial for businesses relying on time-sensitive goods.

But that’s not all—CdM is also planning significant expansions for the main reefer yard. By year-end, the port will see its capacity grow to an impressive 224 plugs, with a further expansion slated for 2025 that will add an additional 64 plugs. This means that by 2025, the total reefer capacity at the Port of Beira will soar to a staggering 352 plugs. Such improvements will position Beira as an essential hub for reefer cargo—not just for exports, but also for imports destined for the hinterland.

To complement these physical expansions, the Port of Beira recently unveiled its innovative Reefer Monitoring System (RMS), allowing for real-time remote monitoring and management of reefer containers. This cutting-edge technology ensures optimal temperature control and safety for delicate cargo, providing peace of mind for exporters and importers alike.

These upgrades are part of CdM’s broader vision to enhance the Port of Beira’s facilities, demonstrating a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of their customers. This initiative is all about preparing for future challenges and ensuring a seamless logistical experience for all stakeholders involved.

Stay informed about the exciting transformations underway at the Port of Beira as it continues to develop into a world-class infrastructure hub, ready to support your business needs.
