University of Abuja Welcomes 17 New Leaders: Meet the Fresh Faces of Academia!

In a strategic move to enhance its academic leadership, the University of Abuja has officially announced the appointments of 17 new deans across various faculties, alongside a new provost for the College of Health Sciences. This significant announcement was shared on the university’s social media platforms earlier this week, sparking excitement and optimism within the university community and beyond.

Leading the charge in this new leadership lineup is Professor Ibekwe Titus Sunday, who has been appointed as the Provost of the College of Health Sciences. Known for his dedication to advancing health education, Professor Ibekwe’s leadership is expected to propel the college towards greater achievements in research and community health initiatives.

The faculties welcomed notable new deans, including Professor Akeem Abolade Oyerinde for the Faculty of Agriculture and Professor Madu Amuche Uzoamaka for the Faculty of Arts. These appointments are part of the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering excellence in diverse academic disciplines.

Notably, Professor Apeh Hosea Abalaka has taken on the role of Dean for the Faculty of Education, while the Faculty of Engineering will be led by Professor Abdulfatai Jimoh. Each newly appointed dean brings a wealth of experience and expertise, which is anticipated to significantly enrich the learning environment at the university.

Professor Abugu Celestine Uwakwe has assumed leadership of the Faculty of Law, and Professor Oyadiran Phillip Adeyinka will guide the Faculty of Management Sciences. The diversity of expertise amongst the deans promises to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration across different departments.

In addition to these key faculties, the appointments also include Professor Dankishiya Ahmed Salihu as the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Professor Olasupo Mutiullahi Adebayo as Dean for the Faculty of Social Sciences. Furthermore, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will be overseen by Professor Enem Simon Ikechukwu, ensuring a continued focus on vital health disciplines.

The university has also appointed Dr. Khadijat Toyin Musah as the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, a position crucial for shaping the future generation of healthcare professionals. The faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Communication & Media Studies, and Pharmaceutical Sciences are also seeing leadership changes, all of which reflect the institution’s growth and dedication to providing top-notch education.
