Cameroon and Gabon Collaborate on Telecommunications Infrastructure Development

Cameroon and Gabon are taking significant steps to enhance digital connectivity in Central Africa.

Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL), met with Bertrand Mahoukou Bitchinda, General Manager of Gabon’s SPIN, to discuss the CAB-CORRIDOR initiative. This project aims to strengthen telecommunications infrastructure and digital integration across Cameroon, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo.

Strengthening Telecommunications in Central Africa

The CAB-CORRIDOR initiative focuses on expanding terrestrial fiber-optic interconnections among the three nations. By leveraging the Central African Backbone (CAB) infrastructure, the project seeks to enhance regional data traffic and network resilience within the CEMAC zone.

Both CAMTEL and SPIN Gabon are committed to maximizing existing cross-border routes. This partnership is expected to improve internet access and reduce latency, fostering a more robust digital ecosystem in the region.
