Egypt is set to enhance its renewable energy landscape with a new wind farm project.
The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company has signed a power purchase agreement with Alcazar Energy for a 407 MW wind farm in Zafarana. The project, valued at US0 million, aims to begin commercial operations in 2028 and will provide clean electricity to around 775,000 households.

The agreement, signed on 3 August 2026, allows for the development of the wind farm under a build-own-operate model. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company will purchase the electricity generated through a long-term off-take arrangement.
