Lagos State to Launch Health and Safety Program for Commercial Drivers

The Lagos State Government is launching a health and safety programme for commercial drivers next week.

This initiative aims to enhance road safety and reduce accidents linked to driver health issues. Approximately 10,000 commercial drivers are expected to benefit from free screenings and consultations at four key transport hubs.

Lagos State’s Initiative for Safer Roads

The Lagos State Government is set to commence a comprehensive health and safety programme for professional drivers. This initiative, disclosed by Hon. Hassan Adekoya, targets the occupational health challenges faced by commercial drivers, especially truck operators crucial to the state’s logistics and economy.

Screenings will occur at four strategic locations: Iyana Iba, Obalende, Lekki Free Trade Zone Park, and Lillypond Bonded Terminal in Apapa. The programme aims to provide free eye screenings, medical consultations, and corrective lenses, along with substance abuse awareness campaigns.
